Platelet-Rich Plasma
Using the body’s own growth factors, platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) triggers hair growth in areas of thinness or baldness.
The treatment originated in Europe more than a decade ago and has been used in many areas of medicine, including orthopedics and dentistry. We also use PRP with microneedling to generate collagen growth in the skin.
How it works.
About two teaspoons of blood are drawn from your own body and separated by a centrifuge in our office. The platelet portion that contains natural growth factors is separated and injected into the scalp to not only trigger the natural growth of hair, but to increase blood supply to the hair follicles as well. Some patients have seen an increase in the thickness of their hair.
Several treatments are required spaced about 4 weeks apart. Ask Dr. Mullans if you are a good candidate for hair restoration with PRP therapy.
