BOTOX®

For both women and men, BOTOX® will temporarily improve the appearance of facial wrinkles, including crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead wrinkles, “bunny” lines on the nose, and lines around the mouth. The treatment can last up to four months. Dr. Mullans performs all BOTOX® injections and the procedure usually takes about 10-15 minutes. We also utilize Dysport and Jeuveau™, which provide similar results.

Infini RF Microneedling

Infini RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and acne scars, while stimulating collagen growth for volume and skin tightening.

Here’s how it works. The treatment uses a handheld device with microneedles and is pressed against the skin to send radiofrequency (RF) energy to multiple layers below the surface. The combination of microneedling and RF energy delivered directly to the dermis, the second layer of our skin, provides the heat energy needed to encourage collagen growth and tissue tightening.

Injectable Fillers

Dermal fillers help to restore lost fullness to the face, lips and hands. The loss of fullness is a natural occurrence as we age and fillers are a popular treatment. They work by filling the line, crease or area of the skin with one of several different substances providing immediate results. Some fillers require a few office visits.

IPL Photofacial

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a non-invasive, laser-light treatment that delivers high-intensity light into the deeper layers of the skin. It is an effective treatment for pigment issues, such as brown spots, sun damage, Rosacea and broken capillaries. Adjustments are made to the range and wavelength of the light emitted during the treatment to meet specific needs.

Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, increases the skin’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin. A small instrument with dozens of fine, short needles is put against the skin to create microscopic “injuries.” They trigger the skin’s natural healing process to produce new collagen and to restore a smooth and clearer complexion.

Most of our patients see an immediate glow and full improvement takes from two to four weeks. Typically, we do a series of treatments on patients depending on the condition of the skin. The procedure is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, large pore size, acne scars, sun damage, texture issues and age spots.

Platlet-Rich Plasma Therapy

Using the body’s own growth factors, platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) triggers hair growth in areas of thinness or baldness.

The treatment originated in Europe more than a decade ago and has been used in many areas of medicine, including or orthopedics and dentistry. We also use PRP with microneedling to generate collagen growth in the skin.

How it works.

About two teaspoons of blood are drawn from your own body and separated by a centrifuge in our office. The platelet portion that contains natural growth factors is separated and injected into the scalp to not only trigger the natural growth of hair, but to increase blood supply to the hair follicles as well. Some patients have seen an increase in the thickness of their hair.

Several treatments are required spaced about 4 weeks apart. Ask Dr. Mullans if you are a good candidate for hair restoration with PRP therapy.

Sculptra

The facial structure changes as we age and natural facial collagen loss occurs and can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra®, a synthetic injectable material called poly-l-acid, restores volume in the face for a full, fresh and rejuvenated appearance. It is a collagen stimulator that is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of facial fat loss and provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. The results can last more than two years.

Skincare Products

There are so many choices of anti-aging skincare products on the market and it may be difficult to select the right product. Ask Dr. Mullans and our team what products may be appropriate for your skin type. We carry several national brands and we have our own line of Uptown Dermatology products that have been tested and used by our team. We believe there are 3 key things that we can all do to help our skin look its best: protect, boost collagen and moisturize.

Protect your skin with the daily use of sunscreen on your face. Sunscreen protects against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and helps prevent skin cancer. One in five people in the U.S. will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Sunscreen also protects against fine lines, wrinkles, sunspots, and all those concerns you see in the mirror. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen because it protects against both UVA and UVB rays, and make sure it is SPF 30 or higher.

Boost collagen because it is an essential protein that provides support and elasticity to the skin so it will appear more youthful and healthy. Biotin, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E, which are antioxidants, are excellent for your skin and provide nutrients to boost the skin’s collagen production.  Retinoids are amazing for the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing collagen production and stimulating new blood vessels in the skin. Retinoids are topical Vitamin A-based drugs and the most used anti-aging compounds. Retinoids are prescription strength and a milder form is a retinol product and you can find it in a number of skincare products. Apply a retinoid or retinol product once daily at night because the skin will be sensitive to sunlight afterward.

Moisturize. Determine the right moisturizer for your skin – whether it’s dry, oily, or sensitive.  We highly recommend a product with hyaluronic acid, an important part of any anti-aging routine to enhance the moisture content of the skin.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the area around the eyes, neck, chin and brow and improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

Ultherapy uses ultrasound waves to trigger the body’s own regeneration of new collagen that will lift and tighten the skin. It reaches the deep tissue layers of your skin. Patients say they see results gradually and naturally and their skin appears and feels tightened.
